Ormskirk Golf Club Junior News 2018
Return of “Tuesday night is Junior’s night”!
The ever popular Junior Golf Evenings will recommence on Tuesday 24th April at 6pm. We would like to encourage all Members to enrol their children, grandchildren and the children and grandchildren of close family members or friends. Previous golf experience is not necessary as help and tuition will be provided. We would also encourage the more experienced and skilled Juniors to enrol this year when specialist coaching and regular competitions will be provided to help them develop their game to the next level. Jack Hammond our resident Professional will be on hand to provide tuition and encouragement to all Juniors. There is no fee to be paid and the Juniors do not have to be Members of the Club. Junior golfer definition is from as young as you like to no older than 18 on 1st January this year. If you can provide appropriate length Junior clubs great, if not come along anyway and we will do our best to provide equipment.
Parents and Grandparents are welcome to leave their children for the 2 hour duration, however those that wish to stay and help will be most welcome.
Activities will include, golf practice, short course play, putting, chipping and golf fundamentals for the beginners. More experienced Juniors are most welcome and as well as work on the golf swing, short game, putting and bunkers we will also provide competitive play on the main course. We will have fun competitions for the younger Juniors and more serious competitions for the better golfers. It is our intention to encourage as many Juniors as possible to obtain a handicap, this will enable them to understand the game better and at the same time make them aware of the etiquette requirements.
The evenings will run every Tuesday evening commencing at 6pm and finishing around 8pm weather and light permitting. We would encourage the Juniors together with their parents/grandparents etc. to join us in the Mixed Lounge at the conclusion of the evening so that the various winners and those deserving special recognition can be given their rewards.
To save time on the opening evening it would be really helpful to enrol as many of the Juniors as possible in advance by emailing me with some basic details. Name, date of birth, contact details and handicap (if applicable).
If you have any questions whatsoever please do not hesitate to contact me.
