Colin was born in Swansea South Wales where he spent his childhood until leaving for University in Dundee Scotland between 1975-1979 to study dentistry moving to England on qualification where he worked in Nottingham, Prescot and St Helens until he took early retirement in 2016.
Colin has always been interested in sport- playing rugby, football and cricket as a teenager in South Wales. He took up playing golf when at University in Scotland and was fortunate enough to play at St Andrews as a student. Tennis and skiing became popular hobbies and Colin became an active member of Aughton Lawn Tennis Club where he captained various teams and held a number of positions. He was an active rugby club member of Mellish RUFC in Nottingham and latterly Ormskirk RUFC where he again captained various teams. He continued playing rugby until 40 when he finally hung up his boots and golf became his main hobby although he maintains an interest as a spectator in the other sports!
Colin became a member of Ormskirk Golf Club in 1996 and was elected to Council in 2008 serving both on the Green committee and handicap and competitions in 2011.He is married to Sue who shares his interest in golf. They have two daughters- Catherine who lives in Singapore and Alyson who lives in London and one granddaughter Beatrice also based in Singapore hence some long distance babysitting.
Carole Halliwell was born in Burscough, Lancashire and educated at St Wyburns School Birkdale Southport . Married in 1962 , lived in Maghull before moving to live in Lincolnshire . After a few years returned to Ormskirk and has lived here for the past 50 years .
Carole has 3 children Paul , Lesley & Martin , seven grandchildren six boys and to our delight our seventh , a granddaughter .
Carole became interested in golf in the late eighties when her children were starting to leave home to university . In 1992 Carole joined Ormskirk Golf Club becoming a committee member in 2007-2010 the following year being captain of the ladies 3rd Team .
Carole's husband is also a member of the golf club and was Captain in 2002 .
Will has been a member of Ormskirk Golf Club since 1999 starting out as a junior learning the game from the club professional Jack and has now been competing in junior and colts matches for the club for over ten years both home and away.
As a former colts cup winner Will has been concentrating on improving his golf in his spare time since graduating with a BA (hons) Business & Management from university in 2013, in his working life he is a third generation landlord after his grandfather Andy, and father Michael who are also members of the golf club.
Will ‘It was an honour to be selected as Ormskirk Colts Captain for 2018 and I am hoping for a successful year with the team’
Holly is 14 and is a student at Scarisbrick Hall School. She has been playing golf since she was 3 and has been a member of Ormskirk Golf club since 2012.. Holly participates in many sports including the school netball team and is a keen skier.
Holly has represented the club for 3 years in junior matches both home and away, and takes an active part in the junior coaching nights on a Tuesday in the summer.
In 2017 Holly started playing in the Ladies competitions and was delighted to win her 1st competition.
Holly can regularly be seen on the course and practice area with her Dad and younger sister Katie.
